As a Data Governance Manager reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Governance, you will materially influence the ongoing development and roll-out of TELUS' Data Governance program.
This requires you to support the Data Lifecycle Management Program as well as the Data Enablement Plan Program within TELUS.
You will work within a cross-functional group as a champion for a streamlined data governance platform across the organization.
Your contributions will be an integral part of our commitment to leveraging data in a respectful manner, anticipating challenges at the intersection of privacy, ethics, technology and data.
What you'll do
- Establish best practices for Data Lifecycle Management (Records Retention), through the development of retention schedules (including schedules for international jurisdictions), and the implementation of policy, procedures and standards
- Contribute to the continued success of our data governance technology platform by managing the implementation of conditional logic-based components from design, through operationalization, to ongoing monitoring and improvement
- Lead a successful technology implementation, including resolving conflicting priorities, resource constraints, dependencies, risk management, contingency planning and scope change management using project management skills
- Help support the evolution of data governance and data lifecycle management programs at TELUS by developing training for key audiences, and providing program support for TELUS Data Stewards, and Privacy and Security experts
- Act as a support for our data governance community partners including preparing presentations, communications, monitoring support chats and developing web content
- Define and implement best-in-class processes to support various data roles within TELUS' Data Lifecycle Management Policy including privacy and security subject matter experts
- Support program administration including monitoring success metrics, communication to key stakeholders, and other program delivery tasks
- Learn continuously, innovate every day and seek opportunities to develop and demonstrate thought leadership
What you bring
- 4+ years' experience with Data Lifecycle Management (Records Management), Data Governance, program delivery and development in a large matrixed organization
- Experience leading or supporting program development including experience partnering with multiple stakeholders across an organization, such as various lines of business, information technology, architecture and operations
- With your exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), you can align with teams across business areas and have the ability to influence decisions with more senior-level audiences
- The ability to translate ambiguous business problems into a clear concise business case and structured project / program
- Able to identify and proactively consider opportunities outside of conventional thinking to resolve problems and address gaps
- Valued for your knowledge and expertise in data governance technology, business process modeling and enterprise implementation of data governance tools and solutions (OneTrust and Collibra preferred)
- Highly adaptable, and comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Expert skills in Google Workspace (G-Suite) and / or Microsoft Office
- University degree
- Experience working in public-facing roles with customer service element
- Demonstrable knowledge of privacy or data governance concepts
