Job description

Summary :

The shipping / receiving associate verifies shipping and receiving and files for processing all shipping and receiving records on incoming and outgoing shipments.  Picks and / or properly stores inventory items in correct location on warehouse floor or shelving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Records and enters shipping & receiving transaction based on picklists signed off by shipping packers.
  • Enters stock transfers (by location & site).
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Cycle counting (with warehouse supervisor / managers) instructions – selected items or locations and reconciles variances & discrepancies.
  • Picks and / or shelves inventory items per packing list and / or work order instructions.
  • Determines method of shipment (i.e. usually per customer instructions).
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles cardboard and / or other shipping containers.
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Posts weights and / or shipping charges on waybills.
  • Assists warehouse supervisor with administrative duties as needed- including reordering supplies, and materials.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains necessary inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Confirm quantities and condition of Returned Goods and sign of RGA form as verification of quantities received.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience :

  • Reading and writing skills in English are necessary to perform the job.
  • Must be able to operate a lift truck and forklift.
  • Must be able to effectively use calipers when identifying product for shipping and / or storage.
  • Must demonstrate ability to interpret a limited variety of technical instructions.
