How does applying to an inventory work?

Referrals from this inventory are expected to occur throughout and after the advertisement period. Only candidates that are referred to hiring managers will be further assessed.

How to apply

We want to attract top talent; therefore, we are focusing solely on abilities and personal suitability. We have also simplified the application process.

To apply for this process, the following is required :

  • Screening questionnaire : A summary of past experience—including the situation, action, and result—must be included in your responses to the screening questionnaire.
  • Reference checks : The names of two (2) supervisors.

Assessment information :

  • A variety of tools and methods may be used to assess candidates, including, but not limited to, written tests, interviews, and / or reference checks.
  • Any information candidates provide may be used to assess them.
  • Applications from this inventory will be considered and assessed at regular intervals.
  • Please note that we will be assessing our next group of candidates from the inventory starting May 22nd, 2024. Make sure to apply or update your application if needed before then.

    Duties

  • Determine employee compensation entitlements.
  • Analyse, prepare, and process compensation transaction requests.
  • Conduct research and analysis into individual employee compensation status and entitlements under federal and provincial acts, regulations, programs, collective agreements, pension and insurance plans, etc.
  • Interpret and apply Human Resources policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide advice and individual guidance to clients on compensation options, coverage, and costs.
  • Analyze, clarify, document, and apply changes in federal and provincial acts, regulations, programs, collective agreements, pension and insurance plans, etc., affecting employees' compensation.
  • Compile, maintain, and update records of compensation activities and decisions in Human Resources Management Information Systems and maintain associated hard-copy files, electronic backup, records, and correspondence.

    Intent of the process

    A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established from this process to staff AS-01 and equivalent positions within Statistics Canada across Canada. This process may be used to staff positions of various tenures, language requirements, security profiles, and various work locations.

    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    EDUCATION :

  • ED1 : Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of training, education, and / or experience.
  • Acceptable combination is described as experience in a similar position or certificate programs related to Human Resources or Administration.
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • EXP1 : Experience in providing client service.
  • EXP2 : Experience using computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Client services may include management, employees, citizens, or other stakeholders.
  • If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

    ASSET-EXPERIENCE :

  • AEXP1 : Experience in compensation.
  • AEXP2 : Experience working with the Phoenix pay system.
  • AEXP3 : Experience working in the fields of Human Resources, Administration, or Finance.
  • The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

    R - Results : What was the result of the approach you took? Could you have done otherwise? Was the person you were dealing with satisfied? Did you achieve your goals?

    Failure to clearly demonstrate in your responses how you meet the screening criteria (Education, Essential Experience, and Asset experience) could result in the rejection of your application. Inconsistencies in the application package may result in your submission being rejected.

    Your résumé will only be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in your answers to the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS) screening questionnaire and will not be used as the source document for candidate screening. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possibly missing information.
