The WCB return to work programs provide psychosocial and physical therapy to injured clients while promoting the client's readiness for work. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality individual and group psychotherapy for the treatment of work injuries. The psychologist position requires you to be working closely within a multidisciplinary team including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and kinesiologists. This team environment also includes plenty of opportunities to collaborate with other psychologists. In-person care is required; however, there are opportunities for creating a hybrid schedule with virtual care services.
You will provide top quality whole-person care using your client-centered biopsychosocial approach with both interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams (i.e., physiotherapy, kinesiology, occupational therapy, vocational rehab specialist, case coordinators) and interdisciplinary mental health teams (psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, social workers, occupational therapists).
Education and licensure
Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited universityCurrent registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (competency with adult populations; clinical (asset : counselling psychology, health / rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychology)Individual professional liability insurance required at time of employmentTraining / certifications with Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR and other evidence-based treatments highly desiredApplied experience
2 yrs. of clinical experience working with adult populations on return-to-work is preferredExperience with chronic pain and occupational rehab is an asset.Conducting psychological assessments with adults for various goals, including treatment planningWorking in interdisciplinary teams and with third party payers is considered an assetUtilizing telehealth / virtual care methods is considered an assetAdditional abilities
