Job description

Academic Services is focused on supporting SAIT’s schools and departments in their pursuit of SAIT’s strategic priorities. Academic Services brings together several academic development, delivery, and quality assurance units with a common goal : student success. Academic Services provides unique, flexible support programing designed to help learners succeed in their chosen SAIT career program. The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Instructor to deliver courses in Mathematics and Foundational Engineering Sciences to students. The candidate must be available to teach at least one of these two course schedules between May 1, 2025 - August 31, 2025 : MATH 280 EEK – Calculus for Technologists (90 hours)This course provides learners with required skills for calculus. Following an introduction to continuity and limits of functions, topics will include general rules of differentiation and of integration for algebraic and transcendental functions as well as topics in infinite series. The general rules studied will be applied to solve application problems.

  • Course days and times : Mondays – , Thursdays – , Fridays – MATH 288 CEJ – Mathematics for Engineering & Technology II (75 hours)This course enables the student to apply advanced algebra, integral and differential calculus methodologies to scientific and technological applications. Topics include trigonometric and transcendental calculus, methods of integration, specifically integration by parts, by trigonometric substitution, and by use of tables. Applications include linear motion, areas under curves, volumes of revolution, centroids, moments of inertia, and program-relevant applications.

  • STAT 245 A – Statistics for Engineering & Technology I (60 hours) : Tuesdays – , Thursdays –
  • STAT 245 D – Statistics for Engineering & Technology I (60 hours) : Wednesdays – , Fridays – Note : SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging courses in Mathematics (Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Statistics for Engineering Technology and Business disciplines) and Foundational Engineering Sciences (Physics and Statics).
  • Instruct Engineering Technology (diploma) and Undergraduate students in an applied setting.
  • Develop application-based learning materials and assessments tailored to students' areas of specialty.
  • Evaluate students' progress and provide timely formative feedback.
  • Provide ongoing academic support, guidance and advice to learners.
  • Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies.
  • Under the direction of the Academic Chair, conduct scholarly activities, pursue external funding, and disseminate knowledge.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students.
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or STEM Education from an accredited institution.
  • Master’s degree or Doctorate in STEM would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-secondary teaching experience, or 3 years of industry experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering learner-centered courses.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-work skills.
