Job description

Western Integrated Electrical builds, installs, maintains, and commissions electrical systems throughout locations across the lower mainland. We complete a variety of electrical installations which can be located at YVR, hospitals, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and in many local municipal facilities. We partner with our clients across the lower mainland to solve their most pressing challenges including design build projects and custom solutions, distribution and lighting upgrades, and conveyor and machine installations.

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team of professionals.

Location : Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Canada

Summary :

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to safety regulations, and meeting project budgets and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

What you will be doing :

  • Planning and Execution : Develop and maintain detailed electrical construction schedules and budgets. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution. Procure and manage the delivery of electrical materials and equipment. Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Safety and Compliance : Implement and enforce all job site safety regulations and procedures. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards promptly. Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes and regulations (e.g., NEC, local codes). Investigate and report all accidents and incidents.
  • Quality Control : Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and industry standards. Troubleshoot and resolve any electrical issues that arise during construction. Perform testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Team Management : Lead and supervise a team of electricians, apprentices, and other electrical workers. Motivate and mentor team members to enhance their skills and performance. Address any personnel issues promptly and fairly.
  • Communication and Collaboration : Maintain open and effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Prepare and submit regular progress reports to project management. Participate in project meetings and contribute to decision-making.
  • Budget Management : Track project costs and identify potential cost overruns. Implement cost-saving measures where possible. Prepare and submit accurate cost reports.
  • Other Duties : Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • What we need from you :

  • Experience : Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Licenses / Certifications : Red Seal Inter Provincial Electrician, FSR A / B is considered an asset.
  • Skills : Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and specifications. Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations. Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
