As a Senior Manager, Investment Oversight, you contribute to the oversight of all the assets under management for Scotiabank’s Canadian Asset Management arm as well as supporting oversight efforts for Scotiabank’s international asset management companies.
You will work with a team of professionals, present results and findings to committees and senior executives and ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
In this role, you will :
- Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Provide strategic and tactical direction for the oversight of all investment products offered through 1832 Asset Management and its portfolio advisors, with direct accountability to senior management, Investment Committee and the Independent Review Committee including : Overseeing the management of investment mandates and investment advisory agreements for all products and their portfolio advisors;
- Ongoing portfolio advisor due diligence regarding hiring / on-boarding and terminations / off-boarding; Providing expertise in recommending competitive positioning among industry peers of all investment products (internal and third-party);
- Providing investment oversight for International Asset Management for their international / offshore mutual funds, including performance monitoring, portfolio advisor due diligence and reporting as needed;
Providing support for the asset allocation team, sales, marketing, and product managers on the various Investment Programs.
Lead ongoing development and delivery of detailed investment analyses and insight, as well as accurate and timely performance reporting, for both internal and external audiences, collaborating with product, marketing and communications teams to provide key insights from oversight activities : Conduct regular performance and analysis from both a compliance-to-mandate and product integrity perspective, resulting in reporting for regulatory bodies, Boards, IRC, Investment Committee and select client-facing needs;
Quarterly Performance Analyses.
- Manage all sub advisors relationships including contract negotiation, service level commitments, fee discrepancy resolutions, and reporting needs.
- Manage an environment in which his / her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML / ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML / ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

communicating vison / values / business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if have :
- Bachelor Degree. In an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Commerce, Finance or Economics an asset;
- 10 years of experience in the same or similar field Typically at this level it’s 10+ years
- CFA required. CIPM / FRM would be an asset
- Completion of Canadian Securities Course
- Previous experience within the Mutual Fund industry and oversight in particular
- Able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with minimal leadership oversight
- Experience presenting investment analysis to committees
