Purpose :
The School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is a large and complex revenue-generating education enterprise designed to provide English language instruction and continuing professional education programs to students in the GTA, nationally and internationally.
The School serves the diverse needs of international students seeking to obtain language and post-secondary education to excel in Canada.
It also serves domestic students seeking to upgrade their professional education, change careers or obtain a Canadian education or credential.
It is expected to generate revenue for York University and to generate a funnel of undergraduate as well as graduate students for York University in order to meet the enrolment targets.
The School has two main divisions : the English Language Institute (YUELI), and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programs.
Reporting to the Manager, Finance, Risk and Facilities, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the financial mandate of the SCS is met through data supported decision making and maintaining efficient and effective policies and procedures that follow York University Guidelines.
The Senior Financial Analyst responsibilities include leading financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership.
In addition, the position will also provide project teams with financial guidance and assisting with processes. The position, in consultation with the Manager, Finance, Risk and Facilities, will continuously review financial policies and procedures and lead initiatives to ensure that they are updated to meet York's rigorous standards.
Education :
University degree in a related field ( Business, Accounting, or Economics)
Recognized accounting designation (CPA, CPA CGA, CPA CMA, CPA CA)
Experience :
Experience working with PeopleSoft Financial or any other ERP system will be considered a definite asset.
Experience working on finance related technical projects and project management experience preferred.
Skills :
Advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel), intermediate Word & PowerPoint.
Exposure to following software is desirable : PeopleSoft Financials, database query languages and reporting packages ( eReports).
