What Is The Opportunity

Aecon's Urban Transportation Solutions team is proactively seeking a Senior Project Manager to support future dynamic transit projects in the Greater Toronto Area. We are proud to support projects that are committed to faster and more convenient travel, ultimately keeping our community in mind to support the ease of travel within the city. This starts with bringing aboard the best possible team!

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring all construction project management activities are successfully executed. We are looking for Senior Project Managers who are experienced in one or more of the following disciplines :

  • Rail Infrastructure and Heavy Civil.
  • Utilities.
  • Industrial, Commercial, Institutional (ICI).
  • Mechanical and Electrical.

What You Will Do Here

  • Establish construction infrastructure and critical path.
  • Establish and maintain project budget.
  • Enforce change procedures.
  • Establish schedule and staffing plans.
  • Execute contracts and agreements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Chair project management meetings with a focus on the best outcomes for the project.
  • Ensure all project reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Oversee testing, quality, and safety.
  • Manage client and vendor relationships.
  • Log and manage project risks and issues.
  • Ensure all project close-out activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen to protect profits and improve margins.
  • Participate in business development, costing, estimating activities, and risk analysis.
  • Contribute to financial forecasting and creation of revenue targets.

    • What You Bring to the Team

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or equivalent discipline.
  • Knowledge and / or experience in the rail industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil construction, track, buildings, Utilities, M&E, or related disciplines is required.
  • General knowledge of non-residential construction methods, building systems, and terminology.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential; experience with estimating software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
