About the Role - We are currently seeking a service-oriented Senior Project Manager to join our team as our project portfolio grows in size, complexity and geography.
What does a typical day look like for a Senior Project Manager?
Project Managers at Avia NG are the central hub and manage projects from start to finish. Although you will be located in our Toronto office, you will be managing projects spread across the country and the Caribbean. Responsibilities include the following;
- Preparation of proposals.
- Business development including attendance at conferences and trade shows.
- Oversee the planning, design and construction phase services for airfield infrastructure projects.
- Assist in the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, etc.
- Undertake research activities to identify and develop potential solutions to design challenges associated with airfield facility design / construction.
- Project management and contract administration duties for infrastructure projects including but not limited to the preparation of budget / schedule updates, progress payment certificates, shop drawing review, site instructions, change orders, commissioning inspections, etc.
- Participate in public and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current airport design and planning Transport Canada, ICAO, FAA, IATA, ASSI, ECCAA and related standards and recommended practices.
- Provide QA / QC for in-progress and completed designs.
- Enhance knowledge of requirements of reviewing agencies such as NAV CANADA, Transport Canada, Municipalities, Airport Authorities, Aviation Regulatory Agencies etc.
- Oversee Inspectors at project sites and evaluate contractor work to determine compliance with Contract Documents.
- Consults with suppliers or contractors to interpret specifications or other contract criteria.
- Develop and maintain client relationships effectively.
- Technical report writing.
- Plan and conduct site visits, site reviews and field surveys.
- Mentoring of junior staff.
Qualifications - Licensed Professional Engineer and ideally also Project Management Professional (PMP) with a minimum ten (10) plus years related work experience.
Preferred Skills
An experienced Senior Project Manager who has experience in civil engineering design and managing medium to large scale heavy civil projects including those where there are building interfaces.Forward thinker, getting in front of problems before they arise and using your experience, ethical, sound, practical decision making skills and judgement to solve problems, coordinate solutions with your peers and offer the highest level of service for our clients and the project.Demonstrated experience in civil / electrical engineering, design, or project engineering / management for the municipal / land development / transportation industry.Demonstrated experience in interfacing civil works with buildings and working and coordinating with Architects and building engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, IT and structural.Strong communication and report writing skills and ability to prioritize / manage multiple project timelines.Ability to demonstrate leadership, drive results, solve problems and possess interpersonal skills.Demonstrated experience in the MS Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).Experience in preparing and monitoring / updating progress schedules using MS Project.Valid Driver’s license.Prior experience in large airfield infrastructure projects are considered assets.Perks
