Job description

This role is being posted by Navacord on behalf of Waypoint Benefits & Financial Services. This role can be in BC or AB.

Position Summary

The Benefits Administrator provides Third Party Administration which includes the administration, education, and communication of the Group Benefits plan and other benefits available to our clients. The role liaises with clients, internal stakeholders and insurance companies / carriers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison on day-to-day queries between insurance companies / carriers and clients, ensure that all employee information is accurate and recorded on all insurer’s systems.
  • Handle employer / employee inquiries specific to their group plan in adherence with their carrier contract(s) and CLIHA guidelines
  • Process enrolments, terminations, and changes to employee’s / member’s records in various online systems / platforms
  • Review employee applications for accurate and complete information and initiate appropriate follow-up procedures
  • Produce and release accurate monthly billing statements on a timely basis to clients
  • Reconcile and validate billing statements and member data records with insurance carrier records where applicable
  • Assist with new client carrier implementations including attending employee benefit presentations
  • Assist in writing internal and external administration manuals

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience, ideally in a similar role
  • Completion of the GBA certification or willingness to complete is an asset
  • Proven experience administering and handling benefit groups is an asset
  • Experience with payroll and / or database programs is an asset
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy in completing data entry and reconciliation

  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
