POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the production engineering tech is to provide hands on technical engineering support in a manner that creates a safe work environment, drives continuous improvement, and fosters new process innovation while meeting the business requirements. This position is required to provide on shift process expertise to the operating group focused on process improvement on each production line. In addition, this position will assist in monitoring critical process / product measures and identify equipment and process improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and Lead root cause analysis; engaging operations, maintenance, and process engineering to eliminate quality issues and reduce scrap and usage.
- Provide process expertise to help identify and solve problems identified at machine centers and support commissioning of new equipment and processes.
- On production floor technical hands-on support expected to be 70% or more
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of continuous improvement changes implemented at machine centers.
- Communicate internal and external customer needs to machine centers, recommend, and implement solutions.
- Support operator training at their machine center through development and training of technical procedures and work instructions.
- Test and report critical product measurements to ensure internal and external customer quality requirements are being met.
- Monitor required logs and documentation and assist with continuous improvement processes as required for all equipment lines and processes.
Knowledge and skill requirements :
Post Secondary Education in Engineering Technology, Maintenance Technology or equivalent field would be considered an asset. .Three years’ experience in industrial maintenance, engineering, or equivalent field is an asset.5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.Applicant must be able to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.Applicant must be familiar with manufacturing environment safety procedures.Previous experience with extrusion and molding operations considered an asset.Lean and Six Sigma experience considered an asset.SCADA, PLC, and machine control systems, understanding or experience considered an asset.Equipment Used :
