Position Summary
The WLIC Chemistry Lab Technical Support member is responsible for assisting the WLIC chemistry lab instructors in order to ensure that the WLIC chemistry labs operate efficiently and effectively and are aligned to the lab support practices of the WLU chemistry courses, to ensure equivalent experiences for WLIC and WLU students. The incumbent is responsible for preparing solutions (solutions and quantities vary by experiment, prepared from solids or by dilution) in advance of the WLIC chemistry labs, lab set up for each experiment (setting up stations, equipment and glassware), cleaning up the laboratory after the labs have completed (ensure stations, balances, benches and glassware are clean, hazardous substances / waste properly stored) and other responsibilities.
The WLIC Chemistry Lab Technical Support member will report to the Senior Administrative Officer, FHSS and the WLIC Course Instructor with day-to-day direction provided by the WLU Lab Coordinator.
This position is based at the Brantford Campus. The incumbent will be required to have regular interpersonal interactions and collaboration with departments at the Waterloo Campus, the Brantford Campus, and external partners. Special attention is given to ensure equitable service delivery across all locations.

Qualifications
Minimum MSc degree in Chemistry or related field.
Hours of Work
The normal hours of work are 8 hours (biweekly) from Monday to Friday. Flexibility in hours will be required including evening hours to accommodate lab sessions. 48 hours total of work per semester. Fall lab times are Wednesday 1 : 30-5 : 30pm.
Compensation
Hiring salary range posted : $41.09 to $43.44 with an annual step progression on anniversary date up to $46.96. Considerations for new hire step placements include, qualifications and length / depth of required experience, relevant market rates for similar jobs, internal equity, and estimated learning curve in starting the job.
