Job description

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Permanent Maintenance Helper role with one of our prominent clients in the manufacturing industry, specifically within their Personal Care division. This is a fantastic chance to join the team.

Role : Maintenance Helper

Pay Rate : $24-25 / hr

Employment Type : Permanent

Location : Mississauga

Shift timing : 6AM to 3 : 30PM

The Maintenance Helper provides coverage for the maintenance function by assisting with maintaining production machinery and production lines to maximize production uptime in a manner that complies with food safety standards and that upholds personal and employee health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

Perform daily machine setups, tool changes, and ensure smooth production processes.

Conduct repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

Lubricate and clean machinery as per maintenance team instructions.

Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery.

Handle general building and shop maintenance, ensuring tools are organized.

Support the maintenance team with disassembly and reassembly of production machinery.

Maintain tapes on production machinery, set up and calibrate line coders for accurate labeling.

Adjust and maintain shipper equipment, capping, and retorquing machines.

Conduct line washouts to ensure cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination.

Manage bulk material transfer from holding tanks to production lines.

Ensure proper hose connections and adjust filler weights for consistent product quality.

Assist with any additional maintenance or operational tasks as needed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES

Hands-on knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.

General understanding of personal care production machinery.

Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma plus appropriate technical training

Good mechanical background or apprentice Millwright

Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing plants

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift heavy objects

Ability to work in confined spaces

Ability to work in high places

Bending and twisting

Ability to remain standing for several hours

Ability to crouch down in tight restricted areas

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Wet / slippery floors

Ability to work around hot water

Ability to work around moving conveyors, forklifts and equipment

Damp working environment

Must wear personal protective equipment as required
