About the RoleWe are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Snr Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with a strong background in both union and non-union environments, who thrives in a fast-paced setting and has experience processing payroll for 400-600+ employees. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, handling benefits administration, and providing exceptional support to employees. You will work closely with HR, Finance, and external providers to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all payroll and benefits functions. Key Responsibilities - Process bi-weekly payroll for over 400-600 employees, including both salaried and hourly staff. - Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations. - Manage payroll-related inquiries and provide excellent support to employees. - Administer union and non-union payroll processes, including WCB and union remittances. - Liaise with benefits providers, ensuring smooth administration of employee benefits. - Maintain accurate payroll records, reconcile accounts, and resolve discrepancies. - Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure seamless payroll and benefits operations. - Prepare and submit government and internal payroll reports as required. - Stay up to date with legislative changes and payroll best practices - Assist with year-end payroll processes, including T4 preparation and distribution. - Support audits and compliance activities as needed. Qualifications & Skills - 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a large-scale environment (500+ employees). - Strong knowledge of union and non-union payroll processes and collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). - Proficiency in some sort of payroll systems.- In-depth understanding of federal and provincial payroll regulations. - Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. - Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams. - Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is an asset.
