Position Overview / Summary :
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Care - Hospice serves Kensington Health’s in-residence hospice to support the clinical operations and advance quality of care, safety and the experience of the people we serve.
The role is pivotal to ensuring operational excellence by stewarding human, financial and material resources at the hospice. This role will be guided by the relevant legislation and regulations governing in-residence hospice care, the organization's policies and procedures and best practices for nursing and personal care. As a key member of the operational leadership team, the Associate Director of Care, Hospice will lead a team of registered nurses, registered practical nurses, and personal care attendants to deliver on daily care and services for the people who live at the hospice. The Associate Director of Care, Hospice ensures that the highest degree of palliative care is delivered.
Compensation : $95,500 - $114,500 (Based on Experience)
Responsibilities : Human Resources :
- Works with the Department of People and Culture to effectively recruit and retain registered nurses, registered practical nurses and personal care attendants.
- Collaborates with the Health and Safety team to support team members who require modified duties, hours and / or accommodations in the workplace.
- Monitors and manages team member performance and behaviour in collaboration with the Executive Director and People and Culture to resolve performance / disciplinary issues.
Clinical Operations :
Oversees clinical operations for the hospice with a focus on the care and services provided by registered nurses, registered practical nurses and personal care attendants.Ensures that the hospice is consistently staffed within the approved staffing model and budget.Regularly audits the health records of those living at the hospice, focusing on residents with high risk factors, and takes action to address any care or process gaps.Other :
Provides input into annual operating and capital budgets for the hospice.Ensures clinical equipment and supplies are well-maintained, inventoried, and that there are sufficient supplies and equipment at the point of care.Supports the achievement of quality improvement goals and objectives by implementing quality and safety initiatives.Supports the development and implementation of research in alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Bachelor's degree in nursing required.Master's degree preferred (e.g., nursing, health administration, leadership).Active member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.Minimum three years of formal management in healthcare operations (palliative care or hospice sector preferred).Experience and strong knowledge base in palliative care and hospice care principles.Experience leading teams in a unionized environment preferred.Experience in caring for structurally vulnerable populations and applying harm reduction approaches to care.In-depth experience related to clinical assessments, clinical education, care planning, and interventions to care for people with life-limiting illness.Please submit resumes by 11 : 59 PM on Feb, 28, 2025 .
