The Role
We are looking for aSenior Data Quality Engineerto join the Central Technology Product Development team in support of Morningstar’s Business Intelligence Reporting.
This position is based in our Toronto office.The QA Engineer is expected to improve the accuracy of Corporate System Dataand improve stability of data ingestion pipelines.
Active coordination will be required with Engineering, Product Managers, Project Managers, and otherstakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining testing processes for ETL workflows, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data transformations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive testing best practices, enhance overall testing efficiency, to ensure high-quality delivery of data driven insights.
- Understand Corporate System data part of Finance, Marketing, Sales, Workday and Client Services to build business intelligence reporting.
- Work on a team as well as independently, multi-tasking and evaluating priorities to manage critical project timelines in fast-paced environment.
- Participate in team communication and collaborate in planning activities, including Agile stand-ups, iteration planning meetings, and retrospectives.
- Participate in UAT and production support.
- Clearly present and communicate test plans and results.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 4-5 years of Quality Assurance experience.
Expertise in writing SQL queriesand in SQL query performance tuning is required.
Expert in API testing using Postman is required.
Experience in using python scripting to automate testing procedures and processes is required.
Experience in Business Intelligence Reporting (Tableau and / or Informatica) is a plus.
Experience in financial services is a plus.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts is a plus.
Knowledge of AWS or other cloud service providersis a plus.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills
Ability to work on multiple concurrent projectsin a fast-paced global environment while delivering high-quality work.
Working Agile experience onScrum methodology, JIRA or equivalent story writing tool. Able to function as an active scrum member in maintainingProduct backlog, sprint backlog, story estimation, story prioritization, and validating acceptance criteria.
