Our customers are located across the USA and Canada.Powersmiths is committed to designing and manufacturing innovative products that serve the growing market in environmental sustainability, clean tech, and energy conservationAbout this roleThis role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) program for the PCO NAM three facilities, including offices and sales staff, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations. This role ensures compliance with provincial and federal regulations while aligning with global safety and environmental standards. The Safety & Environmental Manager will play a critical role in promoting a culture of safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.This is a critical leadership position with an opportunity to influence the safety culture, sustainability initiatives, and operational integrity of the organization. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities : Health & Safety Program Management : Develop and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with Ontario legislation and global corporate safety standards.Conduct regular risk assessments, site audits, and hazard identification to ensure a safe working environment.Implement emergency preparedness plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first-aid training.Provide safety oversight for sales staff, ensuring protocols are in place for their well-being while on the road.Compliance and Reporting : Ensure compliance with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other applicable regulations.Prepare and submit required safety documentation, including incident reports and regulatory filings.Act as the primary liaison with government agencies, safety inspectors, and external auditors.Environmental Management : Develop and implement environmental policies and programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, emissions control, and energy efficiency.Monitor and report on environmental impact metrics, such as carbon footprint, water usage, and hazardous materials management.Collaborate with facility teams to improve sustainability initiatives, including recycling, pollution prevention, and resource conservation.Ensure compliance with environmental laws and standards, such as the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) of Ontario.Training and Awareness : Develop and deliver training programs on workplace safety, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.Promote a proactive safety and environmental culture through regular communication, workshops, and awareness campaigns.Stay updated on industry best practices and legal requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.Incident Management and Prevention : Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.Maintain detailed records of all safety and environmental incidents, ensuring proper reporting and follow-up actions.Lead the implementation of preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of future incidents.Collaboration and Reporting : Work closely with the local Leadership and global safety & environmental teams in France to align local and global HSE strategies.Provide regular updates and reports on safety and environmental performance, initiatives, and compliance to senior leadership.Act as a key liaison between facilities and corporate HSE teams, ensuring smooth communication and consistency.Oversight of Traveling Staff : Develop and enforce travel safety protocols for sales staff, ensuring their security and well-being while on the road.Monitor travel-related risks, including vehicle safety, ergonomics, and environmental factors.Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills : Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and / or Canadian Environmental Practitioner (CEP) designation preferred.Minimum 8 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in a multi-site or international environment.Proven experience with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and environmental regulations.Experience with sustainability initiatives and corporate environmental responsibility programs.Experience working with remote employees is an asset.Strong knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation, and environmental compliance.Proficiency in data analysis and HSE reporting tools.Ability to manage multiple priorities and locations effectively.Proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills.High attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong interpersonal and cultural sensitivity skills to navigate global collaboration.Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.Strategic thinking with the ability to translate global safety directives into local operations.Working Conditions : This role is located in Brampton, ONMust be available for occasional business travel to international locationsIf you believe you have the necessary skills and experience for this job, please upload your résumé and apply through LinkedIn.Upon request, we will provide reasonable accommodation for disabilities to support participation of candidates in all aspects of the recruitment process.
