Position Overview
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Contents Technician will work hand in hand with other members of the team under supervision, as well as individually in processing personal property (contents) in residential and commercial settings.
Job Duties
- Work under supervision in residential and commercial settings handling personal property (contents) as follows :
o Packing, loading & transport
o Disassembly and reassembly
o Mitigation services
o Dry and wet cleaning
o Inventorying and chain of custody
o Deodorization (ozone, foggers, etc.)
o Ambient air filtration
o Cleaning and laundering items
Participate as directed in the following activities :o Vehicle safety and maintenance inspections,
o Maintaining vehicles in clean, serviceable condition
o Construction polyethylene enclosures
o Removing and disposing of debris
o Setting and maintaining equipment
Participate in development of content scopes of work, including :o Characterization of smoke particulate
o Test cleaning
o Cleaning methods
o Deodorization methods
Identify salvageable versus non-salvageable contentsInventory photographingProvide excellent Customer ServiceWork under time constraints to meet specific timelinesEnsure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and informationWill practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksiteParticipates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipmentComply with all Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirementsProactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate personThis role could be required to act as a “lead” periodically as designated by their managerAttend all Belfor sponsored training coursesQualifications
Working knowledge of restoration industry best contents practices including :o Restoration following fire and water losses
o Degradation factors
o Decontamination
o Real, sentimental and historical evaluation
Familiarity with chemical cleaning products including Safety Data SheetsIICRC certification (Fire and Smoke and / or Odour Control and / or Water Damage) preferredRecognition of common objects and materialsConstruction / Restoration / Insurance experience preferredComprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practicesEligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor ’s vehicle policyAbility to work within a team or independently as neededStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environmentBasic / Intermediate / Advanced computer and / or tablet / iPad experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Google SuiteWilling to work nights, on call and weekends when requestedPeriodic travel may be requiredCriminal Record CheckPhysical Demands
