Job description

At Hi-Kalibre Equipment, we’ve been transforming the oil and gas industry for nearly four decades and are now looking for a talented and experienced Manager, Engineering to join our dynamic team at our headquarters located at 7321 68 Ave NW, Edmonton.

As the Manager, Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and directing the engineering department to ensure alignment with company objectives. This key position is responsible for ensuring engineering compliance with industry standards, managing the design verification and validation process, driving research and development activities, and providing both company and customer technical support. You will leverage your engineering expertise to provide guidance across the organization, exercising independent judgment to meet departmental and company needs.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead, manage, and take full accountability for the engineering activities across the organization, ensuring alignment with company objectives, industry standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Provide expert engineering guidance and technical support to other departments.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment through coaching, performance evaluations, and career development opportunities.
  • Jointly assumes responsibility for our corporate Permit to Practice and manage our Professional Management Practice Plan.
  • Collaborate with sales and production to facilitate engineering resources for the inquiry to quotation and quote to ship process, and R&D activities.
  • Validate and authenticate the preparation of design output, drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the company’s engineering processes for product design to optimize efficiency, quality, while maintaining compliance design criteria.
  • Review and approve bills of materials, bills of operations, routers, and other technical documentation within the company’s ERP system to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the annual budget for the Engineering team and ensure budget is allocated effectively.
  • Ensures Engineering compliance with all Quality, Safety, and HR related policies, ensuring a positive workplace culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support company goals and objectives.

Qualification Requirements :

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering; other engineering disciplines will be considered based on experience.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with APEGA.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering design and manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, demonstrating the ability to lead teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of 3D modeling design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and / or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities, including strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, prioritization, and execution.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure, competing priorities, and set deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and good interpersonal skills, with ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with a variety of individuals or groups.
