Job Title : Unit Clerk

Status : Regular Part Time

Department : OG9 MEDICINE UNIT / COPD

Program : Medicine

8 & 12 Hour Shifts - Days, Evenings & Weekends (Subject to Change)

Location : Lakeridge Health Oshawa

Wage Schedule : $28.340 - $29.620 per hour

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 3 December 2024 and closing at 11 : 59 pm on 06 December 2024.

POSITION DESCRIPTION :

The Unit Clerk is responsible for patient registration, reception, transcribing Doctors' orders, booking tests, maintaining supplies, replacing sick time calls and other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
  • Proven keyboarding skills of 30 wpm (tested);
  • Experience in an Out Patient Clinic preferred;
  • EPIC experience preferred;
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing education and learning;
  • Must have a satisfactory performance record;
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public; and
  • Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
