The position reports directly to a Sr. Business Analyst. The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for defining business needs and recommending solutions through the documentation of business requirements and user stories, validation of acceptance criteria, creation of process flows and gap analysis as well as workflow assessments in an effort to align and support the Information Technology solutions with the business initiatives. The Business Systems Analyst will act as a change agent within the company to support its vision of system excellence and optimal automation. Key responsibilities : Assist with scope management and definition to ensure that product road map priorities as set out by the Sr. Business Analyst are executed as planned. Interpret business need - Identify, gather, analyze business information, define the scope of activities required to address the business issues. Artifacts created include Charters, Business Cases, BRDs, FRDs, Process Flow Diagrams, User Stories, Use Cases, Novels, Epics, Scope Documents, Wireframes, Test Plans and Test Cases. All of these will be needed to help define and translate the Business Vision.Analyze and document process improvements with a view to better utilization of resources, product enhancements, improved communications and faster issue resolutionAct as the liaison between business users and software development project teams to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of development of new functionality and reportingIdentify issues and escalate as appropriate; manage issue resolution as requiredSupport the project documentation (implementation plan, issues log, process maps, etc.) by capturing process flows and identifying and documenting gapsContribute to the design, development and implementation of information systems for business solutionsMay be involved in developing proposals for small to medium projectsLead testing and quality assurance analysis as part of the project teamParticipate in project scrum meetings as requiredPerform other duties as assignedRequired qualifications : Prior experience and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures related to business analysis and IT projects.Undergraduate degree in science, engineering, computer science, business or other relevant discipline with 5+ years of experience in software development or Business Systems AnalysisAbility to understand the effective application of technology to solve business problemsExperience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS Project and MS Visio (or similar product for process flows)Experience with Software Testing and developing a Quality Assurance StrategyExperience in using formal business analysis documentation softwareExperience in writing technical reports and other documentationDemonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsCBAP certification considered an assetTFS or JIRA experience considered an assetAbility to perform requested tasks with minimal directionAbility to work independently or in a team, under tight timelines, with great attention to detailsAbility to work flexible hours when requiredUnderstanding and experience testing Energy Market transactions considered an assetSummitt Energy is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment.
