A global Construction relatedpany has an immediate need for an experienced and designated Accountant to join the team in their Calgary location.

Your new role

Position Summary

The Country Controller will undertake all aspects of financial management, including but not limited to : corporate accounting and financial reporting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This person will report to and work with the Head of Finance & Support, while supporting the Branch and Country Management Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including A / P, GL, COS, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements (incl. variance analysis) and discuss with Branch / Country Management and Corporate Controlling
  • Execute the rental inventory valuation process in SAP for the country as part of the monthly closing, including inventory reconciliation
  • Prepare analysis, provide rmendations and contribute to the improvement of financial performance
  • Prepare and respond to ad-hoc requests from Senior Management, Branch Management, Corporate Headquarters, Authorities / External agencies and auditors
  • Coordinate the preparation of all regulatory reporting incl. tax reporting
  • Execute month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage andply with local, provincial, and federalernment reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Support forecasts and budget process as required

Other Responsibilities / Peripheral Functions

  • Travel as required, approx. 10-15% (domestic & international)
  • Other duties / projects as assigned; including participating inpanymittees / teams.
  • Assists in ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment

  • What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven working experience as a Controller / Assistant Controller / Financial Reporting Manager in a multi-country / location environment
  • 5+ years of accounting and finance experience,mercial construction
  • CPA Accounting designation
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience in creating financial statements
  • Prior experience managing year-end audits including tax provisions
  • Proficiency with general ledger functions and the month-end / year-end close process
