Our client, a registered Independent Fund Manager, is looking for a well-organized Portfolio Management Analyst to oversee and support many elements of the Firm’s pooled funds and investment operations. We want to help them find YOU : an ambitious BCom / Finance graduate who wants to continue developing a career working closely with independent Investment PMs. Learn from Success! Candidates will need very strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability, this is less client facing and more into the grit of the data. An interest in taking the CFA as a further career path is encouraged by the Firm, but not a requirement for success in this role. Ideally, you’ll already have a minimum 3 years in the Investment Management sector under your belt. The role is located in the FAR SOUTH end of Calgary. Let’s talk!

THE DETAILS…

  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling client portfolio data and pooled funds, as well as analyzing performance discrepancies.

Verify NAV reporting for pooled funds.

  • Monitoring and executing currency hedging strategies.
  • Client portfolio management (ensuring client portfolios are on mandate, and not offside from a compliance standpoint)
  • Coordinating various reports (including Quarterly Performance Reports) and reviews, preparing financial statement request letters, and following up for information.
  • Responds to ad hoc client portfolio queries from custodians, portfolio managers, financial advisors, and / or consultants; and new account set-up and account transfers.
  • May also involve some trade input and monitoring as well as trade and portfolio reporting to the portfolio managers and / or brokers.
  • Manage capital calls for alternative assets, including wire transfers and other banking logistics.

  • Will also manage relationships with third party service providers and work with the various portfolio management teams to ensure that needs are met.
  • Attend all Investment Committee meetings, ongoing review of investment performance, and remain up to date with any important valuation or policy changes.
  • Perform regular administration duties of all investment files and compliance projects as assigned
  • Requirements

  • A degree in finance, economics, or a relevant field.
  • Progress on the CFA or CIM designation is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 years related experience; fund accounting experience is preferred.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using Croesus Portfolio Management and Dataphile software is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, in a team environment
