Job Description

This position is responsible for supervising students with a developmental disability during the lunch period.

Supervision and assistance are tailored to the individual needs of each student and reinforce the student’s educational program. These students have high risk and complex needs, and have very limited abilities to direct their own physical care or to advocate for themselves.

  • Assist with student feeding, preparation of lunch, table manners, cutlery use, self-feeding, proper chewing / swallowing
  • Supervise and assist in the clean-up of the lunch area and assist students in personal hygiene and grooming activities
  • Toilet students of all ages, including lifting and transferring, washing, diapering, changing clothes etc
  • Assist the special education teacher(s) in addressing and meeting the physical safety needs of student(s),e.g., BMS techniques, behaviour shaping, prompting strategies, proximity control, etc.

Overall Purpose

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of Grade 10
  • three months related experience supervising children with special needs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to use adaptive equipment (e.g. wheelchair operation, walkers)

    Additional Information

    Rate of Pay :

    Supply rate : $18.89 per hour

  • 3.4% statutory holiday pay and 4% vacation pay are added to these rates
  • Temporary rate after 30 days : $25.19 per hour

  • 3.8% statutory holiday pay and 4% vacation pay are added to these rates
  • Rate effective September 1, 2024

    Schedule :

    2 hours during the lunch period

    To support our students and to continue on our roster, replacement staff are required to work a minimum of 60 days during the school year.
