Overview : The Financial Analyst will have the responsibility of focusing on the U.S. Operations accounting functions and best practices aligning with the parent company in Canada. This new role will grow and develop the U.S. accounting processes and implement best practices, drive efficiencies and build a best-in-class organization. Partnering and building relationships with Canadian and U.S. Accounting, and U.S. and Canadian Operations teams will ensure the Financial Analyst’s success.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Inventory Management : Accountable for inventory accounting and analysis and ensuring accuracy of inventory quantities and inventory value.
- Manufacturing work order variance analysis, reviewing reported usage, tracking commentary for variances in JDE, and closure through manufacturing accounting GL posting.
- Direct connection with warehouse and manufacturing supervisors to ensure inventory policies are being adhered to.
- Track, report, and reconcile all inventory related financial and non-financial KPI’s to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
- Month end inventory reporting packages including reconciliation to GL, deposits, in-transit, inventory reserve, and balance sheets.
- Lead financial role in annual physical counts and weekly cycle counts.
Capital Assets : Responsible for managing Capital Asset accounting functions.
Coordinating with Operations team to create and maintain projects in JDE & excel.Monthly capitalization of projects, disposal of assets, depreciation, journal entries and reclassifications.Updating monthly projects file (excel) and maintaining Quarterly FA Continuity Schedules.Financial Period Close Process and Reporting : Collaborate with Senior Accountant, ensuring the accounting and financial close processes are in compliance with all regulatory and accounting guidelines.
Oversee the preparation of the Company’s month-end financial and management reports and present them to the Finance Leadership team.Collaboration to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness for all general ledger transactions, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial results.Manage the year-end external audit, including preparing working papers and ensuring the Company is in a state of audit readiness.Conduct monthly analysis review of expense accounts to ensure accuracy and timeliness.Broker Sales Commission : Collaborate with Sales and Finance, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the brokerage sales commission including post automation in JDE.
Process Improvement : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of opportunity in processes and implement solutions to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements :
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.Recently CPA designated or pursuing designation is an asset.Minimum 3 to 4 years’ in inventory accounting and analysis experience.Experience with reporting under Canadian GAAP (ASPE).Preference for experience with Consumer-Packaged Goods company and / or food & beverageExcellent communication skills both verbal and written; effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and / or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and managing in a changing environment.Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, with an ability to meet tight deadlines.Excellent analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail with ability to review and verify accuracy of data.Superior Excel skills and experience with ERP / JD Edwards.Experience with Power BI and / or Hubble is an asset.Accountabilities for Success :
