Position Overview
B’Yachad is Or Shalom’s B’nei Mitzvah program. An independent, experiential Jewish after-school program that prepares children in grades 6 - 7 for their B’nei Mitzvah ceremonies.
We are looking for a talented and engaging B’Yachad educator for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond, to work with B’Yachad students in a group setting in-person, once a week.
The educator will work with the students in a unique preparatory environment, teaching Jewish values and customs, grappling with big questions, as well as teaching Hebrew / Torah skills. All while boosting students’ self-confidence and positive associations with Jewish tradition and Jewish adult role models in preparation for their big day.
The right candidate will be a creative and resourceful self-starter and able to both independently lead a class of learners with varying degrees of knowledge, as well as collaboratively teach with other instructors when the B’yachad class comes together for communal learning with the younger students at the start and end of each session.
Candidates should possess an innate love of learning and knowledge of Jewish tradition, text, culture, and heritage.
