POSITION SUMMARY :

The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Thornhill’s inventory of products while ensuring exceptional customer service.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Resolves customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Responds to service calls, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs products using a variety of tools and computer-based applications.
  • Adjusts equipment & repairs / replaces defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
  • Completes scheduled preventative maintenance services in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Enters relevant technical case information into service process database.
  • Records all diagnostic and service notes and communicates to other functional areas as required.
  • Tests repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
  • Prepares a summary of completed work for customer needs.
  • Stays current with the newest releases of products, parts, and technical bulletins from other functional departments.
  • Works closely with multi-disciplined teams such as Product Design, Marketing, Sales, R&D, and Field Operations.
  • Ensures awareness of all engineering changes.
  • Complies with all new and existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures the safe and correct use of equipment and tools.
  • Considers quality in all aspects of the job and respects procedures and norms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

  • Diploma in engineering, biomedical technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of service experience within an engineering environment dedicated to finished devices with intricate electronic and mechanical interfaces.
  • Medical Device or healthcare industry experience a strong preferred.
  • SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE :

  • Excellent technical agility :  Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Pneumatics, Computer Hardware, and Software.
  • Sense of urgency with the drive and motivation to act and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong aptitude for customer service and meeting customer expectations.
  • Ability to think quickly and respond positively to change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Drive to consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances.
  • Holds self accountable to meet commitments.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of ERP and Quality Management systems.
  • Soldering proficiency.
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS :

  • Primarily exposed to production work rooms and office-related requirements as necessary.
  • Lifting (up to 50 pounds) and bending.
  • May require some travel and non-standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.
