CBDC Labrador - Development Officer
Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC) Labrador is seeking a Development Officer to join our team in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL. CBDC Labrador is part of a network of autonomous, not-for-profit organizations that work with all levels of government and the private sector to meet the needs of small businesses. In rural Newfoundland and Labrador, there are 15 CBDCs dedicated to the development of small business and job creation. CBDCs have been in operation for over 35 years.
CBDC Labrador services organizations in the Labrador region in the creation of small businesses and in the expansion and modernization of existing businesses by providing financial and technical services to entrepreneurs.
What you will be doing :
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Development Officer works with the loan portfolio, and is responsible for the delivery of the Self Employment Assistance Program and the CBDC investment loan program.
- Overseeing the loan portfolio and ensuring it is maintained on a current basis, and administering the delivery of the Self Employment Assistance Program and the Investment Loan Program
- Implementing measures and following procedures to ensure that the scope of programs are effectively and efficiently managed
- Guiding clients with business planning, assessing needs and making referrals to relevant programs of benefit to clients
- Reviewing applications, completing assessments, and presenting findings to the Executive Director and / or Board of Directors
- Provide support to clients through meetings to assess needs, providing resources, guidance and support with business planning preparation, and making referrals to relevant CBDC programs
- Entering all client data into the client management system
- Completing assessments of loan applications and collecting on delinquent accounts
- Presenting client proposals to the Executive Director
- Gathering, organizing and maintaining required documentation for the preparation of financial reports
- Assisting and providing support to potential clients with the application process for Self Employment Assistance (SEA) program
- Preparing and submitting SEA applications to the appropriate regulatory body on behalf of clients
- Assisting in the identification and organization of business training seminars for CBDC clients
- Following up and communicating with clients on a regular basis to ensure the successful implementation of funded projects
What you will bring :
Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experienceThree - Five years of work experience in the business fieldWorking knowledge of corporate procedures, guidelines, and policies, and familiarity with government funded programs is considered an assetStrong technical and financial knowledge, including business planning and loan application knowledge would be an assetDemonstrated ability to provide exemplary customer service to listen to, understand and respond to client's needsStrong writing skills and experience with writing reports and business communicationsConfident public speaking and presentation skills and the ability to create and deliver presentations for diverse groups of stakeholdersInterpersonal communication skills to work effectively with various business partners, co-workers, board members, clients, and members of the publicThe ability to effectively communicate with work colleagues and share information on an ongoing basis.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) is required. Familiarity with client management software and / or accounting software is an assetSocial media management, digital and marketing knowledge is considered an assetTravel will be required as part of the position and the successful candidate must have a valid drivers license in Newfoundland and Labrador and provide a drivers abstract as a condition of employmentThe Perks :
CBDC Labrador offers a competitive compensation package with a salary beginning at $55,000 - $70,000 (depending on qualifications), along with a comprehensive benefits package including Health and Dental coverage and Pension Plan contributions, as well as three weeks paid vacation and statutory holidays.
