Position Overview The Parks Department has an immediate vacancy for one (1) regular full-time Field Arborist. Reporting to the Supervisor, Urban Forestry (Parks), the Field Arborist performs a variety of skilled arboriculture tasks for municipal parks, public and open spaces. The work includes risk assessment, planting, pruning, removal, disease treatment and the investigation of tree-related complaints. The incumbent directs and oversees the work of one or more in house crews and contractors engaged in the work, ensuring schedules, procedures and established performance and safety standards are met. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised, while complex matters are referred to a superior.

The successful applicant will possess :
Qualifications Completion of a diploma in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training or experience. Required certifications and licenses include : Certified Arborist (ISA or equivalent); Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ); and a valid BC Class 5 Drivers Licence. Preference will be given for a minimum three years of demonstrated progressive related arboriculture experience in a municipal setting.
