Job description

A Technical Writer will be responsible for creating comprehensive, user-friendly manuals and instructional guides for the engineering, assembly, and installation of our packaging machines. Working closely with engineers and technical leads, you will ensure that complex technical information is translated into clear, accurate, and easy-to-understand documentation that meets the highest standards of quality. Your work will play a critical role in helping our customers and assembly teams operate and maintain equipment effectively and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop step-by-step instructional materials for the assembly, operation, and troubleshooting of our machines.
  • Ensure manuals are comprehensive, clear, and user-friendly, enabling customers to effectively operate and maintain the machines.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to gather technical information and accurately represent machine functionality, processes, and components.
  • Integrate feedback from technical leads to continuously improve the clarity and accuracy of documentation.
  • Work with design and engineering teams to create detailed exploded 3D models of machine sub-assemblies.
  • Ensure that these models clearly visualize components and their relationships, streamlining assembly processes.
  • Create detailed parts lists for each machine, simplifying the procurement process and ensuring no components are missed during assembly.
  • Include detailed assembly notes, covering sequence of operations and specific considerations to guide less experienced or new workers through the assembly process with confidence.
  • Develop and include clear safety requirements and PPE guidelines in all documentation, promoting a culture of safety and compliance within assembly teams.
  • Include high-resolution photographs of the machines and assemblies (where available) in manuals and guides, providing visual references to enhance understanding.
  • Ensure all technical documentation adheres to company guidelines and maintains the highest quality standards for accuracy, clarity, and usability.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in Engineering or Manufacturing Industries.
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes, mechanical systems, and packaging machinery.
  • Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation for diverse audiences, including customers and assembly workers.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software to create and interpret exploded 3D models.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards in all documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, or similar documentation tools.
