The Opportunity :
Our client is an engineering, procurement, and construction management consulting company providing project development, execution, and specialty engineering services for the oil and gas industry. The company projects include pipelines, terminalling and blending, renewables, food and beverage, power, downstream chemical processing, and more. We are looking for a skilled Instrumentation Engineer in Burlington or Sarnia, ON.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Creating and modifying client drawings, including instrument loop drawings, wiring diagrams, conduit & cable schedules, panel layouts, bill of materials, control panel schematics, installation details, piping and instrumentation drawings, and network drawings.
- Preparing equipment specifications, including online / offline instrument specifications, motor / VFD specifications, and control panel specifications.
- Developing construction scopes of work, purchasing documents, bid reviews and selection, and providing technical support to construction contractors.
- Creating and maintaining project documentation, including cost estimates, schedules, instrument indices, drawings, and procurement control documents.
- Preparing checkout documentation and procedures while understanding the impacts of control systems on client processes.
- Preparing final project documentation, including as-built drawings, vendor documentation, and control system configuration documentation.
- Being responsible and accountable for personal safety and the safety of others involved in or affected by project activities.
- Preparing and / or supervising engineering reports, studies, and calculations, and reviewing drawings as required.
- Providing mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
What You'll Need to Be Successful :
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Engineering (or a related discipline).Registered Professional Engineer License with Ontario (required).5-7 years of relevant working and site experience.Broad technical and HSE skills with a solid working knowledge of construction and commissioning operations.Experience coordinating electrical and instrumentation procurement vendor inspections and QA / QC reporting activities.Experience managing electrical equipment for hazardous area engineering, construction, and pre-commissioning.Strong expertise in sizing, selection, and specification of field instrumentation.Knowledge of all phases of a multi-discipline construction operation relating to field activities.Extensive experience with hardware requirements of PLC, SCADA, and DCS control systems for system design and implementation.Strong business development skills to interact effectively with customers, collect site information, and conduct scope definition visits to secure new work.Strong computer skills.
