Registered Nurse (Community Health / Primary Care) Exigences Essential Experience

Recent

  • and Significant
  • experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services in one or more of the following areas :
  • Community Health (Public Health and Home and Community Care)
  • Primary Care
  • Urgent or Emergency Care
  • Acute or Intensive Care
  • Recent
  • is defined as within the last three years
  • Significant
  • is defined as at least one year of experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task

Conditions of Employment

  • Reliability Status Security Clearance
  • Valid driver's license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license
  • Medical Clearance
  • PRE-PLACEMENT : Category 1 health evaluation + COVID-19 self-screening questionnaire
  • PERIODIC : Category 3 health evaluation according to the schedule outlined in the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard for “First Nations and Inuit Health Branch Nurses Assigned to Isolated Posts in Northern First Nations Communities”
  • Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas
  • Willingness and ability to work in a rigorous, diverse and often demanding work environment
  • May be required to be temporarily reassigned to other communities as operationally required
  • Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required
  • Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education / training relevant to the position
  • Current valid registration as a Registered Nurse and a member in good standing in the province where the position is located.
  • Important Note : Candidates must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.

    Education

    Graduation with a degree in nursing from a recognized post-secondary institution

  • A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial / territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
  • Candidates with foreign credentials must provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Consult the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials or Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC).
