The Opportunity Mosaic is seeking a Legal Assistant to work out of our Nanaimo, BC office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The Role Reporting to the VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Legal Assistant provides administrative support to the General Counsel and larger legal team, with a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail and a strong work ethic. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to :

  • Assisting with data and document entry into internal records systems, including scanning, copying and filing documents;
  • Assisting with document production and formatting, including preparation of external correspondence;
  • Attending to legal invoices;
  • Corresponding with external law firms, including transmittal of filing materials;
  • Assembling books and binders;
  • Managing calendars and bring forward systems, including scheduling meetings and travel arrangements; and
  • Other administrative duties as required from time to time.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited legal administrative assistant program and / or have at least 3 years of experience as a legal assistant in a firm or in-house legal department;
  • Effective organization and time-management skills;
  • Strong document production skills, including exceptional spelling and grammar;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Highly dependable and adaptable with a strong work ethic; and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and flexibility to learn internal computer systems;

    Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 to $74,800. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
