Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent plays a vital part in team development, fostering accountability and building strong relationships. By effectively coordinating with field staff, subcontractors, and clients to manage deliverables and daily operations, you’ll contribute to revenue growth and cost reduction while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety. How You’ll Add Value
- Ensure effective deployment and productivity of work crews, equipment, and resources to meet project safety, schedule, cost, scope, and quality objectives
- Communicate openly with Project Managers, Supervisors, and Operations Managers to identify and address issues that could impact project plans or timelines
- Oversee and coordinate daily activities, implementing corrective actions to maintain project production while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and compliance standards
- Monitor and evaluate project performance, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime, and enhance production
- Evaluate engagement levels, delegate effectively, provide constructive performance feedback, and recognize outstanding contributions, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth
- Collaborate with People & Culture on recruitment, succession planning, and employee development by sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and discussing offers to ensure a positive candidate experience and a skilled, engaged workforce
- Ensure project compliance to applicable specifications and standards
- Identify and implement best practices in materials, construction methods, and process improvements, while maintaining documentation to support quality assurance and control standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure high service standards and successful project outcomes
- Actively contribute to Mainline’s safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment

Qualifications & Experience
Proven ability to collaborate, coordinate, guide, and support field teams applying diverse management styles to accommodate the unique needs of our workforceIn-depth knowledge of civil earthworks materials, systems, and construction methodologies, with proficiency in reading specifications and drawingsProfessional demeanor and ability to maintain high service standards when interacting with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teamsProficiency with Microsoft Office and app-based safety and production toolsFlexibility to work long hours, shifts, on-call, or night work in various weather conditions as required, with readiness to travel to remote areasWilling to travel and work out of town across Alberta for short, fixed-term periods, as needed (housing to be provided by the company, where appropriate)Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractionsHow We Make It Count
