We are currently looking for ASL Interpreters for a variety of academic disciplines. Candidates will be expected to attend in person classes at university / colleges in Mississauga and surrounding regions. These service providers help students overcome barriers in class to succeed!
Responsibilities :
- Provide interpreting and transliteration services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faculty, and staff in academic and non-academic settings, including classrooms, meetings, events, and activities, as requested by the university or college.
- Follow ethical standards of the profession, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to the university or college's policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of interpreting services provided, including timesheets, invoices, and other necessary documentation.
- Attend required meetings and trainings, as specified by the university or college.
- Maintain professional development by staying current with new developments and advancements in the field of ASL interpretation.

An active member of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI)Minimum 2 year post-secondary diploma / degree from an accredited program.Ability to match the diverse language use of consumers.Experience with ASL Interpretation in an academic environmentSensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities.Ability to analyze and process information quicklyAble to work independently- being on time, dependable and able to meet deadlinesWe require a minimum commitment of one academic semester.
Assignments vary depending on the student’s schedules. Assignments typically take place between 8am – 9pm Monday to Saturday.
