Job description

We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer  to join our Mining  team based out of Toronto ON. or Calgary AB. or Edmonton AB or Saskatoon SK.  The Mechanical Engineer  will be responsible for industrial and / or Mining / Potash projects.

In this fulltime permanent role you will be supporting the Project Mechanical Lead.

Duties & Responsibilities include :

  • Review and prepare mechanical engineering deliverables such as data sheets specifications material requisitions etc.;
  • Coordinate assigned work with other technical personnel as required;
  • Prepare letters / correspondence with Vendors;
  • Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity and prepare comments and recommendations accordingly;
  • Participate in Engineering design reviews of mechanical systems
  • Understand roles played by other disciplines on the project;
  • Participate in reviewing and checking designs drawings and data by other engineers / specialists or by suppliers;
  • Familiar with all engineering department procedures and their application to projects;
  • Knowledge of design standards and guides applicable to the discipline for the respective clients; and
  • Participate in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness trust communication teamwork empowerment innovation and satisfaction.

Qualifications :

  • A recognized mechanical or materials engineering degree from an accredited university and registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience in Mining / Potash Projects is considered an asset.
  • Experience in rotating equipment or in an operating plant is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes and standards such as ASME TEMA ASTM API etc.;
  • Experience with software programs such as AVEVA and Naviworks 3D is considered an asset;
  • Willing and able to occasionally travel to operating plants or manufacturers shops for field reviews acceptance testing etc.; and
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
