Job & Team Overview

The Corporate Planning & Effectiveness team, in the Chief Operating Officer’s Group, is looking for a highly motivated and seasoned individual who will help lead Enterprise Planning & Performance Monitoring. They will serve as a trusted partner, working with the Executive Team and Senior Business Leaders in developing and contributing to corporate planning systems for transformation and strategic business objectives.They will effectively evaluate and reconcile business performance across the landscape of short and long-term strategic priorities, corporate capability building and strategy planning. This position will report to the Director, Corporate Planning & Effectiveness.

As EDC navigates through significant change and transformation in pursuit of our 2030 strategy, the Senior Advisor will be instrumental in managing the day-to-day operations of enterprise planning and quarterly performance monitoring, for both annual and medium-term objectives. In collaboration with all levels of leadership, the Senior Advisor will help the organization articulate its focus and foster effectiveness in the execution of corporate strategy. This role is central in the leading the planning systems that will steer the organization towards the successful realization of strategic enterprise priorities.

To be successful in this role, they will need to establish a close working relationship with the Executive Team, Senior Leaders, and many teams across EDC to build alignment and enable progress towards goals and objectives. The Senior Advisor can get into the details of logistics and reporting while also understanding the broader organizational context with respect to corporate objectives, and how these relate to the external environment EDC operates in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning : Support the continued development, refinement, and monitoring of progress against both annual and medium-term enterprise objectives.
  • Innovation : Partner with members of the existing Enterprise Orchestration & Planning team to plan and execute annual activities to improve long term organizational effectiveness in reconciling performance against longer-term strategy.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration : Lead the planning, delivery, and monitoring of a wide range of strategy development initiatives the successful candidate will work collaboratively within the team and throughout the organization to achieve organizational alignment towards the long-term goals and objectives.
  • Building Relationships : The Advisor will build trust with key functions across corporate functions and the business lines.
  • Performance Monitoring : Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the success of strategic initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication / Facilitation : Provide planning, facilitation and communications support including leading the development of Executive strategy forums / sessions.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ progressive experience in strategic planning or combination of related experience
  • In-depth expertise in strategy development and planning methodologies
  • Asset

  • Proficiency in research and data analysis tools
  • Experience with similar organizations or Crown Corporations
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)

  • Lean Portfolio Management 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval or Brossard
