Position title : Environmental Geochemist
Your future role on our team
We are seeking an experienced environmental geochemistto perform and supervise various geochemical characterization studies (ore,tailings or mine waste rock) and closure plans. These studies include assessingacid and neutral mine drainage potential and contaminant leaching as well aspredicting water quality from tailings areas. The geochemist will defineacceptable management methods for mine tailings based on analysis results toprevent or control impacts on water quality and the environment. The incumbentmust be familiar with current Québec, Canadian and international regulations onwater management, mine tailings and mine site restoration.
With a solid knowledge of chemistry and mineralogy, theincumbent will also help select samples and design, interpret and supervise thevarious static and kinetic laboratory and field tests.
The incumbent must understand how passive treatmentsystems work in order to manage surface water at mine sites and willparticipate in their design. The environmental geochemist must also understandthe main geochemical modelling tools and can supervise related studies.
