Who we are
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province’s power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it.
We operate the province’s electricity grid 24 / 7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario’s electricity needs now and into the future.
The Opportunity
The Senior Analyst, Contract Processes & Systems contributes to the effectiveness of the Contract Management team by performing analysis and support activities related to Contract Management’s business processes, systems, data and records while making recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Contract Management operations.
What you'll be doing
- Business Processes & Analysis Enhance business operations through the translation of business needs and user requirements into system requirements;
- Produce documents that capture business requirements, processes and procedures; Make recommendations for improvements or new solutions that can be realised using technology or integration of existing systems;
- Project Management & Support : Act as subject matter expert and assist PMO and systems developers through the entire lifecycle of enterprise change projects, including visioning, scoping, analysis and design, requirements gathering, testing, implementation and closure;
Identify risks, deficiencies and alternatives; and make recommendations to Contract Management Leadership and other internal stakeholders.
Systems Development : Determine requirements for software development; Recommend software solutions that deliver value to internal and eternal stakeholders;
Work closely with systems developers to ensure requirements are implemented in accordance with design; Perform and document all systems testing activities in accordance with organizational best practices.
Data & Reporting : Understand, assemble, maintain and integrate Contract Management data; Design, develop and update reports to assist Contract Management business teams;
and, Design and develop visual analysis tools, mapping solutions and other publications for internal and external consumption.
Records Management : Ensure system integration supports ongoing records management and information governance requirements;
and, Coordinate and support records management functions within Contract Management.
What you need to succeed
- Background and demonstrated experience in the application of business analysis and change management principles and best practices.
- Background and demonstrated experience in the application of project management principles, risk management and PM methodologies and best practices.
- Background and demonstrated experience with database and / or systems design and analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, present findings to groups and mentor peers.
- Strong research, problem solving, analytical thinking, and data analysis skills.
- Strong planning and coordinating skills to prioritize activities to meet deadlines.
- Strong ability to be proactive and work independently to solve business problems with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well within a collaborative setting.
- Knowledge of the Ontario electricity sector and the regulatory environment is an asset.
Education :
4-year university degree in a business, engineering, information systems or other related discipline. Advanced degree in these or other related fields to be considered an asset.
Experience :
6+ years of relevant experience in the field of business analysis, process management, systems analysis or other relevant areas.
Electricity industry experience, specifically generation procurement, generation development, or contract management experience would be considered an asset.

The IESO offers a hybrid work model program to most of our employees, based on business needs. Individuals participating in the program can work an average of three days per week remotely within Ontario.
It also offers three flex weeks when individuals can work remotely within Ontario . When working in the office, you will be located at our Toronto location.
