Working in close collaboration with the Vice-President, Research and Innovation and the Vice-President Advancement and Alumni Engagement portfolios, SPH plays a key role in positioning SFU as an active and responsive partner to industry, government, and community organizations. Our goal is to create value with and for SFU’s external and internal partners.

The Director of SFU's Partnerships Hub (SPH) will support SFU’s mission by leading key partnership projects and initiatives. This role is essential in managing SPH’s resources to support and expand our partnership portfolio, enhancing SFU’s reputation and generating revenue. You will develop and implement strategies that align with institutional goals, working closely with industry, government, and community organizations. Upcoming projects include launching new revenue-generating initiatives and increasing SFU’s visibility as a leader in innovation. By providing strategic leadership and support, you will play a crucial role in positioning SFU as a proactive and responsive partner, ensuring the long-term sustainability and success of SPH. The Director plays a critical role in driving growth and innovation by advancing external partnerships and opportunities. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, is a creative problem-solver, and can manage the details while seeing the big picture. They have a proven track record of building and nurturing strategic partnerships to capitalize on opportunities that grow our revenues and reputation. They can step into a variety of existing partnerships and build on those relationships to expand SFU’s impact. With excellent communication skills, they collaboratively work with cross-functional teams to align partnership strategies with business objectives, while championing change.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Business Administration, Policy or a relevant discipline and eight years of related experience, including experience in strategic account management and building and delivering on partner-driven initiatives in a diverse corporate environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Expert knowledge of partnership strategies, tools and tactics and best practices in account management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with executive decision-makers in industry, government, community groups and industry associations.
  • Proven ability to successfully develop and pitch new partner initiatives with the aim of increasing revenue generation or reputation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, communication (oral, written, presentation), and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and mentorship skills.
  • Proven ability to manage large, concurrent projects / initiatives with multiple stakeholders and partners.
