Job description

As the Environmental Siting and Routing Project Manager, you will lead and coordinate permitting, routing and siting activities for large-scale infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Owner’s subject matter experts, you will oversee compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements while managing project risks related to schedule, budget, and technical performance. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including consultants, contractors, and governmental authorities.

Job Functions

  • Plan, develop, and execute environmental aspects of projects.
  • Collaborate with the Owner’s routing, siting and permitting teams to pursue and obtain necessary environmental permits for the project
  • Assist in drafting technical portions of regulatory petitions and participate in the regulatory process, including hearings and responding to information requests.
  • Contribute to the development of project charters, execution plans, QA / QC plans, business cases, and other project documents.
  • Lead the execution of the environmental project plans, integrating team members and third-party consultants.
  • Advise and assist various stakeholders, including Indigenous Relations, Community Relations, and Engineering.
  • Provide guidance on environmental risk management and contingency plans.
  • Prepare environmental project estimates and manage environmental workplans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Retain and manage consultants for environmental assessments and studies.
  • Oversee technical aspects of environmental assessments and studies.
  • Review and prepare project reports and presentations.
  • Ensure documentation and filing of project information within existing systems.
  • Chair or participate in meetings with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders representing environmental services.
  • Responsible for QA / QC process adherence
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental permitting, project management, or regulatory compliance, preferably in infrastructure or large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes, with experience in state and federal permitting.
  • Applicable years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Environmental experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Teams

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in leading the delivery of environmental requirements for capital projects, specifically experience with processes relating to the Class EA Transmission Facilities.
  • Knowledge and experience in environmental planning supporting the route / site selection planning and construction of new transmission lines and stations and maintenance activities.
  • In depth understanding of municipal, and provincial policy, legislation and regulations and sound knowledge of environmental and related permits, licenses, approvals and authorizations in Ontario.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and adhere to schedules, meet key deadlines and execute per project plan.
  • Ability to interface with clients and vendors. Skilled in engaging and communicating with project stakeholders.
  • Contract management experience with external consultants
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality required
  • Candidates should possess independent problem solving and analysis skills.
