This posting is open for building a pipeline of talent for future opportunities in our Environmental Division for any of our offices in Western Canada (Vancouver, Burnaby, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton).

How will you contribute & what will you contribute :

Environmental Project Manager

Responsibilities : Oversees and manages all aspects of environmental projects from inception to completion (planning, design, execution, monitoring, and closure).

Coordinates between different stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams.Manages budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and with high quality.

Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and standards.Responsible for project risk management and mitigation strategies.

Key Skills : Heightened sense of accountability.Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource management and quality control.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities.Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Environmental Planner

Responsibilities : Develops and implements plans for environmental protection, environmental assessments, environmental permitting, land use, and resource management.

Conducts environmental impact assessments and prepares reports.Works closely with government agencies, developers, and communities to balance development needs with environmental protection.

Evaluates and provides recommendations on policies, plans, and projects.

Key Skills : Understanding of sustainable development principles.Expertise in land use planning, environmental laws, and regulations.

Strong analytical and research abilities.Strong communication skills, oral and writtenAbility to work with various stakeholders, including public agencies and private developers.

Environmental Scientist

Responsibilities : Conducts field and laboratory research to assess environmental conditions and impacts.Collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to air, water, soil, and ecosystems.

Prepares scientific reports and presents findings to stakeholders.May specialize in areas such as biology (aquatic / terrestrial), ecology, hydrology, or environmental chemistry.

Provides technical expertise for environmental projects and studies.

Key Skills : Strong analytical skills.Strong background in environmental science, including biology, chemistry, and geology.

Proficient in data analysis, including statistical methods and software.Fieldwork skills, including sampling, monitoring, and data collection.

Solid technical writing and communication skills to transfer knowledge to others in lay terms.

Environmental Coordinator

Responsibilities : Coordinates and supports the implementation of environmental programs and initiatives.Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Assists in environmental reporting and documentation.Provides support to project teams in areas such as permitting, environmental assessments, and audits.

May be involved in training and educating staff on environmental practices and procedures.

Key Skills : Organizational, coordination and time management skills.Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.

Ability to work with different teams and departments.Strong attention to detail and ability to manage documentation.

Summary of Differences in these roles :

These roles can have overlapping duties but differ mainly in their focus and level of responsibility within environmental projects.

  • Environmental Project Manager focuses on overall project management coordination and delivery.
  • Environmental Planner specializes in planning and policy development related to land use and environmental protection at large.
  • Environmental Scientist conducts scientific research and provides technical expertise using their strong analytical skills.
  • Environmental Coordinator champions support and coordination of environmental programs and ensures compliance with regulations.

Compensation Range :

Compensation varies between the type of position but can be typically anywhere from $70,000 - $140,000 as an example. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role.
