Job description

Our Manufacturing client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to lead the Accounting team and oversee a wide range of financial operations, compliance processes, and strategic initiatives. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and risk minimization, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization to enhance efficiency and performance. The role combines functional expertise with leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to adapt quickly within a fast-paced environment. This is a hybrid working arrangement for a 3-6 month contract, with the potential to go permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting and financial reporting function, ensuring all financial results are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Lead the Accounting & Controls team, fostering their development and growth.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley locally and in conjunction with the parent company's Internal Audit function.
  • Work across the organization to minimize risk by enhancing internal controls.
  • Streamline accounting and control processes, seeking continuous improvements where possible.
  • Manage the chart of accounts and G / L mapping of financial reports in SAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual financial plans.
  • Coordinate the requirements of the corporate office and manufacturing facility to meet month-end reporting deadlines.
  • Lead and manage the year-end audit with external auditors, and any CRA related tax audits.
  • Act as the key liaison for external banking partners, managing all bank accounts and balances.
  • Oversee the annual tax filing process and manage relationships with external tax partners.
  • Work closely with the HR team to coordinate benefits estimation and tracking.
  • Lead the annual capital planning process, ensuring visibility to budget spend requests and timely close out of projects.
  • Execute Treasury functions; including cashflow forecasting, forecasting USD FX needs, executing hedges and FX purchases providing recommendations to manage exposure.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Extensive experience with Accounting Software Systems.
  • Experience with managing and mentoring teams of 8-10 staff.
  • Ability to navigate CRM systems effectively.
  • Knowledge in using Crystal Reports.
  • Thorough understanding of all accounting functions.
  • Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP).
  • Proven track record in managing Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Strong skills in auditing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget processes.
