What You’ll Be Doing

  • In partnership with our Sales team, attend customer meetings to understand in depth the automation needs of the customer.
  • Create custom automation solution concepts, detailed internal budgets and write detailed proposals for opportunities.
  • Recognize and liaise with various departments to attain and incorporate their feedback for successful execution.
  • Interface through various methods with customers to collect technical details and obtain clarifications for information that is needed for execution later.
  • Interact with third party suppliers to convey requirements, obtain pricing, and understand how lead times affect the opportunity at hand.
  • Analyze equipment supply for compliance with applicable standards (i.e. OSHA, UL, cUL, etc.).
  • Strong communication skill and at ease presenting to clients.
  • Be the front facing person to present the won opportunity to the execution team internally in an effective manner relaying all specifics and provide support during the project execution if needed.
  • Act as a mentor for our Applications team, to ensure optimum solutions are created for our existing and new customers.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

You’ll Be Great At

  • Understanding project technical specifications, drawings, material differences and scope of supply.
  • Strong time management skills to manage multiple opportunities and meet hard client-imposed deadlines.
  • Creating detailed cycle time studies based on good understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic and servo movements as well as other processes involved in an opportunity.
  • Working well cross-functionally and in a team environment with the ability to develop relationships.
  • A thorough knowledge of the use of pneumatics, electrical devices (i.e. sensors, switches, load cells, motors, etc.) and PLC controls systems.
  • Other assets that will be considered :

  • Experience in automated testing equipment will be strongly considered (i.e. leak, electrical, torque, backlash, end of line, vision, etc.).
  • Experience using other 3D software will be considered.
  • Automation experience in other fields will be considered (warehouse, pharmaceutical, etc.)

  • Works without detailed supervision, but within clear guidelines, defined standards and specifications. Difficult, complex or unusual matters are referred to more senior authority
  • May guide and monitor the work of other staff working on a project basis
  • Provides input and makes recommendations to management in areas of improvement
  • Will support other projects from time to time including installation of automated equipment on customer sites, customer service and training
  • Key Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education within engineering including electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in industrial automation for automotive, medical and / or consumer products including a minimum of 5 years of Applications / Technical Sales experience.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • Proficiency using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and feedback.
  • Strong written and verbal skills in the English language
