We are looking for a full-time, dynamic and reliable Controller to join our team. The Controller will be directly responsible for the financial success of the company, and provide financial leadership, manage budgets, oversee accounting functions, conduct forecast analysis, and monitor corporate credit.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following) :

  • Prepare monthly financials
  • Collect and analyze cost data versus budget for ascertaining financial performance and risk assessment.
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures relevant to accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Communicate and collaborate with departmental leaders to stay abreast of spending, budgeting, reports, and evaluation.
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting and operations.
  • Facilitate and oversee any auditing conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities.
  • Lead and supervise finance department staff on accounting, reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and other financial matters.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term financial plans and forecasts in accordance with business goals and objectives.
  • Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances.
  • Oversee MLPM’s financial accountability and controls; ensure appropriate fiscal controls are in place to meet statutory compliance and the integrity of data and statements.
  • Oversee the organization's budget process; establish timelines; provide support to the management team; hold the management team accountable for process.
  • Plan, staff, and supervise all assigned work unit activities through subordinate managers to ensure a cohesive operational unit.
  • Identify and analyze information to give early warning of potential problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Manage reporting to appropriate government agencies.

Qualifications :

  • Accounting designation combined with a minimum of 7+ years progressively responsible experience with at least 3 years in management
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications.
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology infrastructure management.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.
  • Experience creating and managing budgets.
  • Experience guiding and developing direct reports.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • This is a permanent full-time role, based out of our Surrey offices.

    Salary range is between $110,000 and $130,000 commensurate with experience and expertise.

    Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package.
