Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with CityWest in their hiring of a Central Office Technician. CityWest is a municipally owned telecommunications company which provides telephone, cable television, and internet services in throughout the province of British Columbia, with head office in Prince Rupert, BC.
As a Central Office Technician, you will be responsible to oversee all Central office and some remote office telecommunications networks such as DWDM transport system, router / switching unit, radio, and microwave systems.

Responsibilities include :
- Performing installation, maintenance, and repairs of central office equipment.
- Acceptance testing, activation, and deactivation of new central office equipment
- Managing racks, wiring and cabling in central office, contracted collocate area telecommunication rooms and equipment stations.
- Performing inspection and maintenance of central office heating, cooling, and power requirements on regular basis.
- Identify equipment problems in a timely manner and recommends areas for improvement.
- Ensures upgrades and changes are completed in a manner with least negative impact service.
- Collects data and prepares traffic studies and cost separations and submits required regulatory reports.
- Maintain documentations for installations, maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Performing all other related duties as assigned by management.
- Complying with health, safety, and environmental policies.

Associate degree in Engineering or Post-Secondary related DiplomaEquivalent three to five years’ experience in Central Office operations or Computer Engineering.Networking (IP) or Telecommunication backgroundSome IT certifications preferred such as : A+, Network +, Security+, JNCIA-Junos or CCNAPreferably certified ElectricianMust have valid driver’s license.Physical Requirements
