Phasor Engineering is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer / Advisor to join our team and help drive a culture of safety excellence. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our workforce by implementing and overseeing Phasor Engineering and Quanta Services safety programs, supporting compliance with all regulatory and company standards across Canada and the United States, and assisting the HR Team in a multitude of fashions. Roles and Responsibilities :
HSE Documentation
- Review and make suggestions to update HSE policies, procedures, practices, protocols etc. as required
- Develop and roll-out safety initiatives as needed
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable OHS, OSHA, CSA, ANSI standards and administrative practices
Incident Management and Employee Rehabilitation
Collaborate with site personnel on initiating, developing and closing incident investigations and reportsAssist injured workers in establishing modified duties and administer the return-to-work policyWork closely with Human Resources and operational leaders to manage and reduce workplace injury / disability claims.Immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents to managementReview incident statistics and implement corrective actions as required in collaboration with site personnelAssist with management of all data associated with incident reporting and field audits through identifying emerging trends or risksIdentify improvement opportunities by monitoring workplace injuries and incidents and developing action plansProject Planning & Maintenance
Participate in pre-job hazard assessments with the Business Unit and develop HSE documents including but not limited to; Project Safety and Security Plan (PSSP), Project Safety Analysis (PSA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as requiredParticipate in regular, daily toolbox meetings, weekly safety meetings, site inspections, FLRA review and other site activitiesMonitor and ensure the completion of daily / weekly / monthly inspections and assessmentsIn collaboration with site personnel develop site specific safe work procedures / practices / policies as requiredTraining / Employee Development
Conduct employee orientation as requiredConduct or assign required trainings to all employee levels.Maintain worker safety training records and organize training as requiredReview and implement training requirements according to Phasor Engineering and local jurisdiction requirementsCorporate Oversight and Compliance
Participate in conducting compliance audits, including but not limited to the annual COR AuditParticipate in managing the company HSE statisticsMaintain confidentiality in dealing with employee records and business informationEnsure compliance to laws and regulations at Federal, Provincial and Municipal as well as Corporate levelsSupport in maintaining ISNetworld, Avetta and other HSE data base requirementsLeadership
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with senior management, business units, business partners, other safety personnel and key stakeholders to achieve established goalsCommunicate effectively and champion engagement in the area of HSE to lead efforts in creating a world class HSE cultureParticipate in the development and implementation of safety improvement initiatives with management, the Projects Management Team, and Field StaffPromote adherence to the safety management systemParticipate in the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee as requiredFleet Coordination and Equipment Management
Dealing with all of our Fleet requirementsEquipment management including the maintenance and or purchasing of new trucks and equipmentRequired Skills

National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is requiredExperience in a Health and Safety role, usually evidenced by 5 years of experienceExperience working in the utility industry is preferredExperienced in both Canadian and United States OSHA acts, codes, and regulations preferredExperience in client compliance websites (ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks, etc.)Benefits
