WORK LOCATION

The positions are located at the following address :

John H. Chapman Space Center, 6767 Route de l'Aéroport, Longueuil, Quebec, J3Y 8Y9.

Please note that one of the positions for Stream 5 (Space Astronomy) will be located in Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States.

It is crucial that candidates reside near their workplace or are willing to relocate to be considered for this opportunity.

HYBRID MODEL

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has opted for an approach whereby personnel work on site at least three days a week. Operational needs may require personnel to work on site more than the minimum three days per week.

This pool may be used to fill other positions across the Canadian Space Agency and may be used for

appointments in similar positions with varying employment tenures, locations of work, language requirements, security requirements that may vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

To ensure a precise and fair evaluation of your application, please refer to the appropriate definition for each criterion based on the level you are targeting. This will ensure that your experience is accurately assessed according to the specific expectations of each level.

DEFINITIONS FOR LEVEL PC-03 :

  • Significant experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least three (3) years within the last ten (10) years. Experience acquired during graduate studies will be considered.
  • Experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least one (1) year within the last ten (10) years.

DEFINITIONS FOR LEVEL PC-04 :

  • Significant experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least five (5) years within the last fifteen (15) years. Experience acquired during graduate studies will be considered.
  • Experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least three (3) years within the last fifteen (15) years.

    • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION (FOR ALL STREAMS) :

    Ed1. Graduation with a Master's or Doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in at least one of : physics, Earth sciences, Solar-Terrestrial sciences, climate science, remote sensing, atmospheric science, astrophysics, geology, planetary science or some other science relevant to the position.

    Note : The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily in a program leading to a degree in the required specialization.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE :

  • It is important to refer to the above definitions for each experience.

    Exp1. Significant experience (1

  • in Earth observation, atmospheric sciences, Solar-Terrestrial sciences, astrophysics or planetary exploration in at least one of the following subjects :
  • Instrument conception or development.
  • Numerical algorithm development for simulation, physical data processing, or data analysis.
  • Space mission development.

    • FOR STREAMS 1 TO 6 ONLY (Program scientist)

    Exp2. Experience (2

  • in designing, proposing, evaluating, or executing research projects.

  • in writing science article(s) in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

    • FOR STREAM 7 ONLY (Mission planner)

  • in designing, evaluating, commissioning, and executing operational missions.

  • in communications and outreach, to the general public, the role of a space mission in its operational phase.
