Parkland County has an opportunity for a temporary, full-time Planner I, Subdivision position in the Planning & Development Services Department until approximately December 2025. Reporting to the Senior Planner, Subdivision, the Planner I, Subdivision is responsible for managing, reviewing, and providing recommendations on subdivision planning projects. This may include leading applications for conceptual schemes, subdivisions, redistricting and development agreements, and naming and addressing, as well as advancing non-statutory plans, policies, reports, and studies.
This role also offers technical advice, promoting continuous improvement of programs, policies, and representing the County on various committees. Additionally, this position provides sound planning advice to leaders and supports a range of planning projects, issues, and applications. The ideal candidate for this position will have the following : Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field.
Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners and Registered Professional Planner designation in the Alberta Professional Planners Institute is desired.
Understanding of the application of Provincial and Municipal planning policies, legislation, processes, procedures, and Statutory Planning documents in the Alberta context.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative to identify and resolve problems.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, juggle multiple deadlines and tasks, and to work within irregular and tight timelines with the ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
Competent with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to create graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and / or computer graphics is highly desirable.
Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-assisted design (CAD) applications is an asset.
Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
The total rewards package for this position includes : A starting annual salary of $82,300 to $89,000, with a maximum earning potential for this position of $104,200, based on a 35-hour work week and the option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
